Nova Scotia-based cableco and wireless operator Eastlink has announced its first mobile network service launch in western Canada, in Grande Prairie, Alberta. The move sees Eastlink enter its sixth Canadian province with mobile services, having launched its 4G LTE network in 2013 in Nova Scotia, before expanding to Prince Edward Island, Southeast Ontario, Newfoundland and New Brunswick. The Grande Prairie mobile launch involved a CAD1 million (USD750,000) local investment, adding to existing triple-play cable services provided by Eastlink in the area. Eastlink offers all smartphones on a zero-initial payment basis whilst offering to buy out existing user contracts for up to CAD200 per phone.
